If you have a wisdom tooth cut during pregnancy, and this process is accompanied by inflammation, severe pain and extremely uncomfortable well-being, then you urgently need to seek help from a dentist. Today we will tell you about how to relieve pain and whether it is possible to treat and remove a wisdom tooth during pregnancy.

Pregnancy for a woman is not only the joy of expectation, but also a big restructuring of the body. For the future baby, a lot of vitamins and microelements for development are required, which he takes from his mother. Hormonal changes affect the condition of the skin, hair, teeth.

Wisdom teeth ("eights") - located at the end of the dentition. They usually erupt at the age of 23-25 years. Their appearance is accompanied by unpleasant sensations. Additional worries and anxiety do not benefit the body of the expectant mother, so do not hesitate to visit the dentist.

Symptoms

The symptoms of cutting the "eight" are individual for each person, but there are common signs:

  • It's a dull pain:
  • discomfort when chewing food at the site of a wisdom tooth;
  • temperature increase;
  • enlarged lymph nodes;
  • bad smell from the mouth.

The correct position of the teeth is a guarantee of painless growth of the wisdom tooth.

What to do with the inflammatory process?

The bone tissue of the "eight" during growth injures the gums, which causes inflammation. The danger is caused by microbes and bacteria in the oral cavity.

Most often, discomfort occurs during meals. To reduce the risk of suppuration, rinse your mouth after every meal. A simple solution of salt and soda will do (1 teaspoon per glass of water).

A good antiseptic are furatsilina tablets (3 pieces crushed into dust and dissolved in 200 ml of water) and infusions of medicinal herbs - chamomile, sage, calendula (1 teaspoon per 200 ml). The decoction should be filtered before use.

Drinking black tea with lemon and ginger pieces prevents the infection from spreading.

Antibiotics for rinsing, such as Dioxidin, should be used with caution. The drug enters the bloodstream through the vessels and harms the baby.

In emergency situations, painkillers are allowed - No-shpa, Ibuprofen, Nurofen.

What can not be done by pregnant women with an inflammatory process?

  1. Apply locally on the gum tablets to reduce pain - leads to irritation of the mucous membrane and the appearance of ulcers.
  2. Applying heat (for example, a heating pad) or rinsing the mouth with warm infusions leads to the spread of infection.
  3. Self-diagnose and prescribe medications.

How to relieve aching pain?

Pregnancy limits a woman's use of painkillers. Traditional medicine recipes will help reduce discomfort:

  • clove sticks or cotton swabs with clove oil are placed on the gum for 10-15 minutes;
  • with swelling of the cheek, ordinary ice will help. Ice cubes should be packed in a bag, wrapped in a soft cloth and applied to a sore spot;
  • chopped garlic and juice from it are left at the site of wisdom tooth growth for 5 minutes;
  • A “sleeping” warm tea bag is placed on the inflamed area to reduce discomfort.

How to speed up the eruption of a wisdom tooth?

The growth of the G8 does not happen in one week, but stretches over several months or years. This is due to the work of certain hormones. If there is no inflammation and swelling, you can accelerate the growth of the wisdom tooth. To do this, massage the gums in a circular motion or bite and chew a piece of meat or fat.

There are frequent cases of the appearance of "pockets" with a partial eruption of the tooth. Food particles remain in the cavity, bacteria and infections accumulate. In this situation, you will need the help of a surgeon to prevent suppuration (mucosal excision is performed).

Can wisdom teeth be removed during pregnancy?

Indications for surgical intervention are:

  • sharp pain;
  • inflammation of the gums and trigeminal nerve;
  • the presence of injuries;
  • cyst formation.

The dentist, after examining and assessing the situation, decides whether to remove the tooth immediately or postpone the operation for the postpartum period. The procedure is carried out under the influence of local anesthesia. Modern painkillers do not harm the health of a woman and a baby, but to reduce the risks, removal is performed in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy.

To avoid such problems during pregnancy, you should take care of dental health at the planning stage of the child.
