Pain in the tooth after treatment can occur for various reasons, the level of complexity of which is determined by the doctor. Today we will tell you what to do if the tooth hurts again after treatment.

Causes

The sources of pain are considered to be factors such as:

  • damage to a worn seal;
  • incorrect preparation of the tooth cavity for the installation of a filling (underdrying or overdrying of the walls);
  • pulp burn (tissue in the cavity of the tooth, consisting of vessels and nerves) during treatment;
  • tooth trauma after prolonged acid treatment during a dental procedure;
  • not completely removed inflamed tissue;
  • the formation of a gap between the tooth and the filling after shrinkage, which occurs due to incorrect calculation of the amount of filling material;
  • allergy to the composition of the filling.

General recommendations

The stages of tooth treatment involve the invasion of a sore spot and some touching of the surrounding tissues, so some trauma and mild pain may occur, which disappear after a few days. The doctor must warn about this when prescribing further treatment at home.

In order not to endure discomfort, you can rinse with decoctions of chamomile, sage, oak bark, celandine, yarrow, as well as a solution of sea salt. Applications of clove oil, raw beets with a small amount of vegetable oil help well.

After caries treatment

When the pain appears without delay after the treatment of caries and bothers while biting or chewing, then you can wait for two weeks, since these sensations are most often not very intrusive.

The pain syndrome is constant, pulsating, responding to cold and hot, sour and sweet. In this case, it makes no sense to expect: every day the risk of complications increases.

If the pain comes after a few days, weeks or months, then you need to urgently go to the doctor, as caries can go to another stage - pulpitis (inflammation of the dental nerve).

After pulpitis treatment

The pain that appeared as a result of treatment should subside and disappear in 2-3 days. Persistent pains and their intensification indicate the presence of inflammation after incomplete cleaning of the root canals.

If treatment is delayed, the process progresses, affecting healthy tissues. To make sure that the inflamed focus is finally removed, the doctor first places a temporary filling, and after two weeks - a permanent one in the absence of toothache.

After treatment of periodontitis

This is the most difficult dental diagnosis that appears at the advanced stage of pulpitis. Pain after treatment is associated with the presence of residual infection at the tip of the tooth root, which reacts to the canal filling.

An X-ray image clearly shows the work done to remove periodontitis. If necessary, the canals are re-sealed and then the behavior of the tooth is monitored. At the same time, a course of antibiotics is prescribed.

If the tooth after the secondary treatment does not bother, then after two weeks the temporary filling is replaced with a permanent one, as in the case of pulpitis.

In order not to create additional problems for your teeth, you need to be sensitive and competent to painful sensations and not take the situation to the extreme.
