Exposure of teeth is a common problem, mostly in people over 40, but there are exceptions. Dental exposure consists in the displacement of the gum edge for no apparent reason, as a result of which the neck and root of the tooth are exposed. In dental practice, this phenomenon is called gum recession.
Causes of exposed teeth
- Oral hygiene. If you neglect to brush your teeth, diseases can occur that will contribute to the exposure of the tooth. The main ones are:
- Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums that occurs as a result of a large number of microbes in the oral cavity. It is manifested by inflammation, bleeding and pain. There are two types of gingivitis:
i. Hypertrophic. It is characterized by swelling of the gums to such an extent that it hangs over the tooth. Such gingivitis cannot cause exposure of the teeth.
ii. Atrophic. It is characterized by a decrease in the gums, as a result of which the teeth are exposed.
- Periodontitis. With this disease, the periodontal tissues become inflamed. There is a loosening of the retaining apparatus of the teeth, resulting in gum bleeding and inflammation. Plaque begins to accumulate in periodontal pockets, which leads to the formation of tartar. The result is destruction of the gums.
- Incorrect brushing of teeth . It's about cleaning techniques. Perhaps the brush is too stiff or, when brushing your teeth, uneven pressure on the brush occurs, as a result of which the gums can be damaged.
- Wrong bite . Misaligned teeth can cause damage to the gums due to misaligned bites, which over time can lead to gum displacement and tooth exposure.
- Increased acidity in the mouth . Acid can destroy enamel, as a result, the gums are damaged, and the neck and root of the tooth are exposed.
Symptoms of exposed teeth
- Visual enlargement of teeth;
- The top of the tooth turns yellow;
- Bleeding gums. It is very dangerous, as frequent bleeding can lead to anemia;
- Toothache;
- Enhanced reaction to the effects of external factors on tooth enamel. When eating cold, sour, hot or sweet food, unpleasant sensations arise, sometimes even a sharp pain that cannot be endured.
Treatment with folk remedies
If for some reason a trip to the dentist cannot take place, then everyone resorts to self-treatment. There are a large number of popular ways.
- Massage . The gums also need therapeutic massage. It should consist in stroking and gentle pressure on them. Massage is best done with a special massage brush. In the absence of such a massage is done with a finger. To improve the blood supply to the gums, you can use mint oil during massage.
- Compresses . Do warm compresses once a week.
- Rinse . Mouthwash is a very effective tool in the fight against bare teeth. For rinsing, tinctures of oak bark or St. John's wort are suitable. To prepare the tincture, you need to take oak bark and St. John's wort, after cleaning it. Throw in a pot of water, bring to a boil. Cook for 15 minutes, then let cool. The medicine is ready for use.
- Plantain . No wonder they say that plantain is a cure for all diseases. It can also be used for dental treatment. Soak plantain leaves in cold water for an hour. This is done so that all the harmful substances contained in the leaves disappear. Then we divide the already prepared leaves into medium pieces and chew for 15 minutes. It is necessary to do this procedure once every two days.
- Salt and banana peel . Take 2-3 tablespoons of salt and dried banana peel. Mix until a homogeneous mixture, for convenient use, take olive oil, and use it to bring the mixture to the consistency of a cream. Rub this mixture on the gums in the morning and evening. The mixture should be on the gums for at least 10 minutes, otherwise there will be no effect.
- Air . Unique plant. But it should be used rather not for treatment, but to eliminate pain in the teeth. To prepare a tincture of calamus roots, take calamus roots and a glass of vodka. Let it brew for 10 hours. Rinse your mouth with this tincture when you experience toothache. It is recommended to use no more than once a day.
- Sugar beet . Beets can completely cure periodontal disease, which, if left untreated, leads to exposure of the teeth and even to their loss. Put the shabby beets on a grater on the gums for half an hour. The procedure is effective only if it is carried out frequently. The amount per day is up to you. In two weeks your teeth will be healthy.
- Collection of herbs . Pharmacies sell ointments for teeth, which include the collection of certain herbs. Using this ointment, you will remove inflammation of the gums, and they will bleed less.
People's advice is supportive therapy and cannot replace drug treatment. Before starting home treatment, you need to make sure that there are no food allergies to products. Allergies will only exacerbate the underlying dental disease.
If alternative methods of treatment did not help you, then you should immediately consult a doctor for advice. No folk method of treatment will replace treatment at the dentist. Be healthy.
