Fluoridated toothpaste can be helpful in a number of cases.
Swedish scientists from the University of Malmo are convinced that such a paste prevents the appearance of white spots on the teeth while wearing braces. This toothpaste is very rich in fluoride: it contains 4 times more fluoride than regular toothpaste.
Numerous studies have confirmed that 85% of people who wear braces develop white deposits on their teeth over time due to oxidation.
High-fluoride toothpaste has proven effective, reducing white deposits by a third in teens aged 11 to 16. No other toothpaste has been so reliable in getting rid of white plaque before.
The study involved five dental clinics and more than 400 people. Half of the patients brushed their teeth with a high-fluoride toothpaste, while the other half used regular toothpaste. All participants in the experiment were photographed before and after. The average course of treatment lasted 20 months.
As a result, experience has shown that white spots when wearing braces appeared in 45% of people using regular toothpaste versus 34.6% of people using toothpaste with a high fluoride content.
